Mr Lloyd Bender

Consultant Ophthalmologist
Mr Lloyd Bender is a medical graduate of the University of Cape Town and completed his specialist training in Ophthalmology in London. He has advanced specialist training in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. He has extensive clinical and surgical experience having worked at some of the leading paediatric and adult eye care centres internationally. He has held consultant posts at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He is currently a consultant at Moorfields NHS Trust.
In addition to general Paediatric Ophthalmology, Lloyd's sub-specialist interests include ocular motility disorders in both adults and children.
Lloyd is also actively involved in pro bono clinical and educational activity and volunteers annually at a rural eye surgical centre in Honduras.
He loves the work he does with adults and children alike and derives great enjoyment from his interaction with patients.

Leslie Kelly
Orthoptist – Orthoptists specialise in assessing eye movement abnormalities and associated visual disorders.
Leslie Kelly trained in Orthoptics at Moorfields Eye Hospital and has over 30 years’ experience. She was Head Orthoptist at St George’s Hospital for over 10 years. Leslie returned to work after having her 3 children and has practised at Parkside Hospital for the last 15 years. She has extensive knowledge and experience in assessing and treating adults and children.
Gina Harris
Orthoptist – Orthoptists specialise in assessing eye movement abnormalities and associated visual disorders.
Gina Harris is a Senior Orthoptist who has been practising with Moorfields Eye Hospital for 27 years, having qualified from the School of Orthoptics (University of Sheffield) in 1991. Instrumental in setting up the Moorfields Outreach Clinics in both Potters Bar and Northwick Park Hospital, she continues to work consistently on the NHS as well as in private practice. Her clinical interests include paediatric and adult squint, amblyopia (especially in older children), ocular motility disorders (including double vision), and orthoptics for children with neurological or other systemic conditions and developmental delay. Gina has also worked in Australia where she mentored Orthoptic students at The University of Sydney. She currently works for Moorfields Eye Hospital (NHS and private), Clementine Churchill Hospital, Clinica in Harley Street, and Hospital of St. John & St. Elizabeth
Susie Kaffel
Practice Manager – Overall operational oversight
Susie Kaffel has worked in office management and personal assistant roles for many years, more recently in the mental health sector and a charity supporting families with children. She now brings her extensive knowledge and experience to Bright Eyes and is looking forward to assisting all patients under Mr Bender’s care.
